Asine in Peloponnese in southern Greece has since 1922 been a Swedish excavation site, where considerable remains from the Mycenaean and the Hellenistic periods have been excavated.
Professor Carl-Gustaf Styrenius is a classical archaeologist. He was Director of the Swedish Institute in Athens from 1963 to 1970 and Director of the Museum of Mediterranean and Near Eastern Antiquities in Stockholm from 1971 to 1989. In these capacities, he was responsible for Swedish excavations abroad, among them Asine.

Asine i södra Grekland är sedan 1922 en svensk utgrävningsplats, där man bl.a. har funnit omfattande lämningar av mykensk och hellenistisk kultur.
Professor Carl-Gustaf Styrenius är klassisk arkeolog. Han har varit chef för Svenska Institutet i Athen 1963-70, och för Medelhavsmuseet i Stockholm 1971-89. I samband därmed har han varit ansvarig för flera svenska utgrävningsprojekt i Medelhavsområdet, bl.a i Asine.
