At the Swedish excavations of the Etruscan acropolis at Acquarossa some pieces of burned clay from a house wall were recovered. They contained several enclosed carbonized cereal grains and numerous grain impressions. Since traces of straw and twigs were also visible in the pieces, plant material had obviously been mixed into the clay when the house was built. Some cereal grains had also been included, which were carbonized when the clay was burnt. The find belonged to zone H in the excavation area and derived from the later part of the 7th century or the first half of the 6th century B.C. By the excavator of zone H, Mrs. Leni Wendt, the material was placed at the disposal of the author for analysis of the botanical elements. This report deals with the cereals that could be identified. Some accompanying weeds are also included.
